His Royal Highness Prince Henrik has passed away.

The Embassy has the sad duty to announce that His Royal Highness Prince Henrik, Husband of Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, has passed away. The Lord Chamberlain has announced that His Royal Highness Prince Henrik died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, 13 February at 11:18 p.m. at Fredensborg Palace.

Persons wishing to express their sympathy may sign a Condolence Book at the Danish Embassy, 15 Hunter Street, Yarralumla, on Friday 16 February 2018 or Monday 19 February 2018 from 10 to 12 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

 

 

Denmark closes the office of the Trade Council in Auckland

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the office of The Trade Council of Denmark in Auckland will close by the end of 2017. The Danish Embassy in Canberra and the Consulate-General in Sydney will handle future trade cooperation between New Zealand and Denmark.

 

Ambassador Tom Nørring and Consul General/Trade Commissioner Michael T. Hansen want to thank Trade Advisor Sarah Lund for her time in promoting Danish businesses in New Zealand.

The Danish Parliament passes dual citizenship bill

On December 18, 2014, the Danish Parliament agreed to implement dual citizenship. The law entered into force on the 1st of September 2015. You can read more about the new law on our website (only in Danish).

 

Retention of Danish nationality - change concerning time of submission of application

Due to the fact that the processing time of the Nationality Division of the Danish Ministry of Justice in cases concerning retention of Danish nationality currently is 14 to 16 months, the Ministry of Justice has informed that applications should be submitted between the age of 20 and 21 years.
